How can I pay for the HIP?

If you choose to purchase your HIP through Thompson EPCs, you can pay by credit or debit card or you can choose the deferred payment option. This means that you do not have to pay until the property is sold.

What is an EPC?

The EPC is a certificate that shows a rating from A(good) to G(bad) for the energy efficiency of a home much like the ratings that are seen on white goods such as fridges. It also gives advice on energy saving measures that can be carried out on the property.

The purpose of the EPC is to increase the energy efficiency of homes by raising awarness. More information can be found here

Are there any benefits of the EPC to the buyer?

Yes, the potential buyer will be able to see how energy efficient the property is and will be given advice on how to improve it, saving them money on their energy bills.

Are there any benefits of the EPC to the seller?

Yes. If the energy rating is good for the property it can be a good selling point. The seller can also choose to carry out some of the energy saving advice on the EPC before the property is sold, possibly ensuring a better chance of getting the asking price for the property.

How much do you charge for an EPC?

The cost can depend on the size and location of the property. Please feel free to contact me for a quote.

How long does it take to produce an EPC?

The actual assessment takes between 1 and 2 hours depending on the size of the property. The production of the EPC can take up to 4 days but will normally be available to the seller the next working day.
